    Ph.D. Zhenyu Zhao et al. summarized the preparation equipment, main principles, and physicochemical properties of microfluidic hydrogel microspheres comprehensively. Furthermore, the medical applications of microfluidic hydrogel microspheres for delivering cells and drugs were emphasized. Finally, this review discussed systematically perspectives and future directions for accelerating the development and application of microfluidic hydrogel microspheres for controlled delivery.
